About D’ECO

More about D’ECO

Soy wax has a “memory” of burning, meaning the candle will keep its burning characteristics (the diameter of the pool) after every burn. To achieve this, burn the candle for 2-3 hours, or until the desired diameter or “pool” of wax is formed, then snuff out the candle, let the pool solidify and repeat.
spot-150x150One of the most common characteristics of container candles made from soy wax is called “wet spots” or “frosting”. These spots are caused by the wax separating or shrinking away from the glass. Wet spots are entirely cosmetic and will not affect the way the candle burns. It is important to note that wet spots have a mind of their own and may occur over time as a candle’s wax expands and contracts with changes in air temperature. Since glass and wax expand and contract at different rates, wet spots may appear and disappear many times over.
sunlightDue to its 100% natural origin, discoloration of soy wax candles may occur.
Sunlight and fluorescent lighting will affect soy candles, sometimes causing them to turn yellow, but will not affect the way the candle burns. We recommend keeping the candles away from direct light as much as possible. For retail we recommend D’ECO in containers and packaged recycled carton candles having a shelf life up to 3 years.
6.1Our containers are reusable and can be washed with warm water (60C) and detergent.
The spilt wax of any D’ECO candles can be washed with water and detergent at 60C.

Candle safety

  • Never leave burning candles unattended as they represent a potential fire hazard
  • Trim the wick to about 1 cm before lighting.
  • If you have trimmed the wick too short and cannot light the candle, try removing some wax from around the wick. If during burning you notice the wick is not functioning properly, snuff out the candle, trim the wick and pour out the excess wax.
  • If the candle walls are too high, affecting proper burning, snuff out the candle and trim the walls while still warm.
  • Always place candles in an upright and secure position. If using a candle holder, make sure it stable and will not allow the candle to tilt or fall down during burning.
  • If burning several candles simultaneously, keep a minimum of 10cm between them to avoid overheating and melt.
  • Do not place candles in a draft. The draft will cause uneven burning and more soot.

2 Never leave a candle burning unattended. Untitled7 Always leave at least 10 cm between burning candles.
Untitled2 Burn candles out of the reach of children and pets. Untitled8 Trim  the wick to about 1 cm before lighting or regularly every 3-4 hours.
Untitled3 Do not place candles near a source of heat. Untitled9 Do not move a burning candle.
Untitled4 Do not place a candle in a draft. Untitled10 Always use a candle holder.
Untitled5 Do not burn candles on or nearby anything that can catch fire. Untitled11 Never use liquid to extinguish. Always snuff out the flame. Do not blow it out.
